Why are SWG's so Expensive?

I don't see where the money is, given that the price of everything electronic has dropped like a stone in the last few years.

I've looked at the electronics and they look like a fancy battery charger in side.

What's up with this?

The rare metals that are used in the cells are part of the cost. Then there is the fact that anything pool related seems overly expensive ... just like for boats or off-road vehicles. You have to pay to play.

Why do they charge so much? "Because they can" comes to mind.

I blame free-market capitalism. And marketing.

Quite true I guess. My son in law used to own a hardware store up in the hills. He had sign over the stainless steel fasteners:

"Please remember to tell the cashier if they are for a pool or a boat, so she will remember to double the price"



It's still a rip. But on the bright side, more and more people are using them so hopefully that will help.

I wonder about the cost of acid minus the cost of not buying chlorine... But I hate adding chlorine more than I hate adding acid.

But like most things, convenience goes a long way towards happiness! ... Until you have to replace it! o:
