Slightly high TA and borates?

I am anxious to add borates to my pool (borax and MA sitting in garage waiting on test strips). My TA is 85 and I don't really have a way to bring it down. Added some water today to bring level up to top of skimmer (tap water is TA-30). Tried to figure out ways to set up some type of aeration system, but can't keep anything in the return to direct water up to break surface.

Is it okay to add borates anyway and just rely on swimmers and fresh water to bring TA down over time?

With low TA fill water, you are likely fine.

Swimmers will just raise the pH, not lower the TA ... As I am sure you understand
