Adding DE to speed up clarity

I am in the process of transforming my swamp. I have been passing OCLT and I decided to try adding some DE. It takes my sand filter about 4 days to go up 1 psi. I added enough DE to bring my pressure up by 1 and 10min later I had to BW. The water was very dark and dirty. I added the same amount of DE and in another 10 min I had to BW again but this time the water wasn't as dark. Is it normal to rise so quickly when trying to clear your pool?

If the water is very dirty, yes. That is the point of the DE.

Thanks Jbizzle. Yes the water is very dirty. I wanted to make sure that there would be no issues with the frequent BW. At this rate I could blow through a 10lb bag lol.
