scummy mark around parts of hot tub just above water line

Hi all,

About every 2 weeks I need to clean of a sort of oily scummy mark around parts of the hot tub above the water line (usually around the hidden filters) and a couple of other places....

Is this normal - should I be doing something specific to stop this?

Is someone in it using body lotion or tanning oils? That is usually the cause of a heavy scummy line in the pool or spa. I've heard that scum balls catch all that filmy oil. Since it's a hot tub, I am unsure if you can just throw it in and it works. I know they go in the skimmers of pools... someone will have to jump in and clarify this to be sure.

That makes - sense! My daughter has excema so tends to get covered in moisturizer during a flair up - bet its that!
