Filter Sight Glass Question

This morning I was backwashing my sand filter and noticed that water was shooting out of the sight glass. Is that normal? I'm assuming this is called a sight glass, but maybe it's the air bleeder? This filter is supposed to self-bleed out the air and there is no air bleeder on top like my last filter.
Here's a picture of it:

Great, thanks for the links, Bobodaclown, I really appreciate it. There is a pressure gauge. I just thought it was strange that water was shooting out of the air bleeder, but maybe that's normal. Going to read the manual now to see.

Can you post 2 pictures of each side and the label. It's a little too close.
Does it twist to close?

Yeah, I'll get some better pics tomorrow. It's raining right now. The air bleeder looks like it twists. The glass thing does not. The only thing I can come up with is that it's a sight glass, with built in holes in it. Our last filter had a sight glass but no holes in it.
