Generic Replacement Cells

I have Hayward Salt Water Generator with the T-15 Cell. The unit is about 5 years old and I keep getting the the "low salt check Message". Nothing seems to reset it to the correct Salt Level. My research indicates I'm probably at the end of the Cell Life Cycle. Has anyone used generic replacement cells? Pro's and Cons?

Sorry I can't say.

Perhaps someone will see this who has. Might be best to stick with a well known/good reputation company. Its also a good idea to over size a little to help it last longer.

IMO, it comes down to "how long will it last". Given the expense of SWG cells, I would be wary of generics since you have no idea what their idea of quality control is, or how much catalyist (ruthenium?) is actually on the cells, and what the expected life span is.

My vote is "Bad Idea".
