Cartridge Filter Size Rec Plz?

I have a 24' round semi-ig pool that has been dug out. The center ring at depth of 5' and the outer ring is 4'd & 3'w.
I calculate its roughly 15000-16000 gals.

The existing pump only has a plate on it that states it is 1 hp.
When I filled a 5 gallon bucket from the pump it took 7 sec to top off.
I think this corresponds to 42 gpm.

What size cartridge filter should I get for this size pool with this size pump?

Thanks

Filter sizing is usually more about the pool size than the pump size. For your size pool, and with the sorter season that you have I would look for a cartridge filter around 200 sqft. You likely could get buy with something a little smaller, but oversizing it gives better filtration and fewer cleanings.

I agree it is always a good idea to go a little larger on the filter. This will allow you to have a larger filtering capacity thus having less time between cleaning the cartridge. Typically going with a larger filter will also put less resistance on your pump motor which will help prolong the motors life.
