Filter problems

Hi all this is a great site. I am a new pool owner. Stupid me left some water in the filter this winter and got a lot of sand in my pool when I turned on the pump. After some research I cleaned out the sand and sure enough the laterals were broken off the standpipe. My neighbour the handy man did a beautiful job gluing it back together and all the laterals screwed in seamlessly. I then put them back in and put new sand in. backwashed then rinsed it. Turned the pump on filter and was running great. I then started vacuuming and after a few minutes noticed a brown stream of water coming from the jet. I am very confused here. Any help would be great.

Did the laterals break again (since they were glued)?

I'm not proficient with sand filters but I don't know if glue would hold that?

"The last thing you fixed is the first thing that breaks" I think you have to reexamine the laterals.

Did you vacuum with the mutiport set to 'filter' perhaps?

Multi port Not sure what you mean but i did vacuum on filter
