On Saturday, I cleaned out my Pentair filter and replaced some of the old screens. When I unscrew the inline Jandy SWG, DTE flows back into the pool from the filter. I assume its DTE because it makes the water cloudy. If I run the pool pump for about an hour, the water becomes clear again. When I turn my pump off, it does not flow back into the pool. I have had the SWG for about 5 years and never noticed this until recently. Is this normal? Is there something that needs looking at? If so, what might it be?

That is common enough. If you have a mutli-position main valve you can set it to the closed or circulate positions to prevent the filter from draining. Remember to set it back once you have the pump primed again.
