Cracking Coping Grout

I live in southern California. I had a pool built last summer and had precast concrete coping installed on it. The grout between the coping pieces is cracked on at least 90% of the joints. I have contacted my contractor about this and he says that cracking is normal and offered to give me the manufacturers information to verify that. I this true?? I understand that some cracking is normal just like concrete and I wouldn't be upset if a few joints had some cracks, but 90%?? Why would any contractor use this stuff if thats what the final product was? wouldn't they tell their customers that almost every joint will have some cracking in it so customers don't call them up to complain and request repairs?
Any thoughts or suggestions would be great thanks
