Cracked grout leads to small leak

I have some small hairline cracks in the tile grout lines which lead to dampen the coping stones. Some people recommended eproxy grout but it is not really recommended by the manufacturer (mapei).

I put some clear silicone caulk at the corners and it seems to help some. Just wonder what you use to waterproof the grout. Or is it common to leave it untreated? Thanks

If the correct grout was used it should have been waterproof, so grout is not normally waterproofed.

They make silicone grout, but using that would require removing the old grout.

The tile guy used mapei Keracolor S cement-based grout, which is suitable for swimming pool application.
