I just bought a sand filter, but it didn't come with a dedicated pump and skimmer basket. I'm wondering if the skimmer basket installed in the pool's skimmer is sufficient to prevent damage to the pump and fouling of the sand filter, or are the skimmer baskets that usually are installed next to a sand filter of a smaller porosity? I'd say the pores in my current skimmer are 3/8 inch or so.
