High Alkalinity

Not sure if I am doing something wrong but I just installed and filled my pool 3 days ago with City water and having troubles getting alkalinity down. Currently 170 and I have PH at 7.0. Everything else is good.

If you provide some sort of aeration, the PH will go up, and you will be able to add more acid to continue lowering TA. More generally, lowering TA takes a while, even with lots of aeration.

Thanks Jason. So I need to raise PH up again and then add more acid? I thought by keeping PH down it would lower Alk.

Acid lowers pH and TA. Aeration raise pH up so you can repeat it.
