Bubble trouble?

When my hayward super pump fires up in the mourning I get a lot of bubbles from the returns for about 30 seconds. ( it never did this last year)

No leaks anywhere, so I did notice that my gasket is a little worn. Is this most likely the culprit even though no water leaks from the gasket.

It sounds like you likely have a leak somewhere on the suction side, possibly in the pump strainer basket lid.

Yea, that's what I thought also. I will replace it and at least rule that out if it doesn't correct it. Thanks

You can also try spraying soapy water around the lid on pump as well as any fittings on the the suction side and if you see the soapy water getting pulled in, then you have found your culprit.

Just bought a complete set of gaskets for my Hayward pump series 1600 also fits series 2600 on eBay for $13.70 with free shipping.

It comes with about 5 or 6 gaskets and seals.

The best things is I don't have to go to a pool store.
