First Test with TF-100

Received my TF-100 today and am very pleased. My first test results are as follows:

PH: 7.3 - 7.4 (still a little hard for me to distinguish the colors, but more pink than orange)
FC: 3
CC: <0.5 (but there is some!)
TA: 90
CH: 170
CYA: 60-70 (closer to 60, I think)

I know at my CYA level I need to get my FC in the range of 5-9ppm, but do you think I need to shock the pool first? The CC test did turn pink and one drop turned it back to clear so I know there is some CC in the pool but less than 0.5. I figured I would leave the PH alone for now since I am using liquid bleach to chlorinate and shock and that should slowly increase the PH.

The water looks real good and my pool description is in my signature.

Am I on the right track?

Hi astrolite,

Here is a verbal scale (by Waterbear) that may help you with determing the pH colors:

6.8 and below yellow
7.0 yellow with a bit of orange
7.2-7.3 orange
7.4-7.5 red-orange
7.6-7.7 red
7.8-8.0 "pinkish" or "cool" red but not quite purple
8.2 and above purple
