I got around to finishing my backwash setup. The pop up is for downspouts, the wifes find. Seems to work pretty well.

Backwash setup

That's pretty cool.... most areas of AZ restrict you from backwashing or draining to the street. We use backwash pits or wash out areas within the yard.
I want to dig in a bog garden, dig a big hole, put down some plastic, fill some of it with pea gravel, place a pipe in there, and fill the rest with black dirt and peat moss and fertilizer. Then I could just backwash into the pipe, and it would also provide water for the bog plants.
Right now though, I just have a quick connect coupling on the pump, and another on the hose, and when I back wash I just roll it out the back fence and blast it out into the alley.
