Sealtight around edge of AG pool?

I stubbed a 1 inch piece of PVC up next to one side of the pool anticipating decking to be on that side. When pool was installed deck could not be put there and had to move to other side. So thinking of a way to run conduit around edge of pool. Started to dig a ditch when I noticed that the lip of the aboveground pool contained a gap through which a PC of 3/4 sealtight would fit. Easy to run wire over and up the pool. Go around edge and terminate at deck. How bad is that?

Sealtite conduit could be used in that manner, if you are willing to support it at every pool upright, and halfway between each.

By code AC wiring must be keep five feet (underground) to ten feet (above ground) from the water except for lines powering underwater lights. There are a couple of other exceptions, but I don't think any of them apply here.
