pvc repair/reseal tips requested

Any tips on replacing the connections on the suction and discharge side of my booster/cleaner pump. Both side have pinhole leaks.

Is the (silicone?) sealant hard to clean off?

I'm guessing I'll have to cut pvc and install couplings to get the correct fit, right?

Any tips appreciated, as I want to make it better, not worse.

You usually need to cut the pipes, unscrew the fittings, and replace them with new fittings. For the screw in connections use teflon paste to seal the threads and make sure they are properly tightened.

Putting unions just after the pump fittings gives you the ability to tighten the threaded connections later if they leak. It looks like you have enough space for that, though it is hard to be sure from the picture.

I like the teflon paste idea better than the "solid" silicon sealant that my pb used, and I like the union idea too.

I'm gonna buy those components and see if I can't MAKE room for them.
