If your fill water (TA 220) is like mine in west Houston (Memorial Villages) you will have a hard time keeping your TA in the 60-70 zone required to keep pH from rising. That, coupled with my SWG, makes my pH continually rise. During the swim season I add about 30 oz. each week to keep my pH in range and my pool is over three years old. But that's about all I do to keep my pool in good shape other than the occasional topping up of CYA, borates, and CL after a lot of rain.
