maintain borage pool, how?

So I decided to borated my pool, so is that means I no longer require to put trichlor tablet and shock on the weekly basis like I've been doing the last 3 years?
Also all I have to do is make sure the borage remain between 30 - 50? Do I still need to test pH, ta, and fc? Thanks.

Welcome to TFP!

Adding borates is an optional procedure that does not change any of the other things you need to do. You still need to add chlorine, maintain PH, TA, etc.

Borates aren't a magic cure-all. You not only need to test everything and adjust it, but you've added one more test! Borates have a mild algaecide function, and they slow the pH shifts, and they make the water feel better against the skin, but they are no substitute for regular maintenance.

I suggest you spend a few hours - make that days - reading until you feel like
