So we had opted to not go with a heater but after reading so many posts with them are they cost effective, really worth the extra days, any other opinions? We have a 30,000 gal pool and the Summers are pretty long and hot here in North Mississippi.
Using a gas or electric heater to extend the swim season can get quite expensive. If that is worth it depends on your finances. We use our heater just a couple of days a year, to take advantages of the occasional really nice day near the edges of the regular swim season, and keep it off the rest of the time.
