it's a bit late, but looking for ideas for next go around. 33' agp and I cannot keep the cover on it. tried the water pillows on top of it all around but the cover still ends up in the pool when we get 30+ mph winds. I was thinking of using tent stakes around as anchor points but am afraid it may rip the grommets out. any one have ideas?

Generally tie downs with milk jugs partially full of water every two or three feet all the way around and about 1/2" to 1" of water on the cover are sufficient to keep a cover on even in high winds.
Get yourself something like this, it's called a pad eye tie down. Use some stainless sheet metal screws or self tapping screws and mount them on the pool uprights. Then run tarp straps thru the eye and hook on to your cover.
The wind won't blow that cover off. Looks a little better than a bunch of old bleach jugs hanging there.

Look at www.hurricaneabovegroundpoolcovers.com . An excellent cover and it will stay on in high winds. We have been using them and have been very satisfied with their performance. Do get the drain kit it doesa good job of keeping water off the cover and keeping pool fuller.
If you have a resin top pool don't use jugs/tie downs. they chewed up the top rail on our matrix pool. haven't even been in it yet and it's a mess

I drain a little water but my cover rests on the water and I also use an aquador.
