This is second season with this system and was told should use a cleaning solution especially since we do t close pool. There is alot of oily substance that is clearing up. I do not yet have a thru the wall skimmer so how do I add the cleaner to the sand? I've never taken the filter apart can it the cleaner be put in the water or must it go directly in the sand? If so how do I get to the sand? Thanks

The cleaning solution is not normally worth using. It is designed to be used in one specific situation, lots of oil in the filter, which is really quite rare. Oil usually accumulates in the skimmer(s) and never makes it into the filter.
I don't yet have my Hayward thru wall skimmer installed yet, ok so ill return the sand cleaner. Thank you for reply
