Need tricks or suggestion for getting hose onto fitting.

This is my first year of opening the pool. It was a new install in July. When we closed up the pool, the hose would not pull off of this fitting. We ended up having to cut the hose away. Now I can't get a hose back on it. I'm afraid of breaking the skimmer if I push or pull to hard on it. Do any of you have a trick or suggestion of a way to make it easier for the hose to go on it? Here is a picture. Thanks!

Try heating up the hose with a heat gun or hair dryer.

Yes those barbs can make things difficult. I've used a little "spit" in the past with things like that. Just make sure you clamp the hose on good before you fire the pump up.

Boil some water in the microwave. Then stick the hose into it for a moment to get it nice and warm and expanded and wet.
