Safe to use a stainless steel bristle brush on Pebbletech?
Nylon bristle, aluminum brush falling apart again. Also does not work well on the algae that forms on the grout of the tile at the waterline.

I'm not sure on the SS brush.
If your having algae issues no amount of brushing is going to take care of that. Algae is a water chemistry problem being your FC is too low for your CYA level. ?

I wouldn't use a stainless steel brush on the tile, as it could scratch it over time. As noted above, your fc/cya might be too low.

Hope this helps:

Nylon is for vinyl, fiberglass, tile, and plaster that is less than one year. (Plaster includes any exposed aggregate and marcite finish, btw!) Combo brushes are for older plaster. All stainless are for algae (very stubborn green algae and also the ONLY brush for black algae.)

You CAN unscrew the Wall Whale from the nylon brush it comes with and screw it on a combo brush if your plaster is over a year old. Newer plaster is really too soft for anyting other than a nylon brush.

I think that SWG systems are temperature dependent. It may be that yours is not effective at current pool temps. (not experienced in SWG, however)

Summarizing,

Adequate chlorine is the first line of defense to prevent algae.

If you let algae form, then you will likely need the assistance of an SS brush to physically remove it but use it sparingly and change your water management practices to get your chlorine up and prevent it from ever occurring.
