Anyone with knowledge of Solarpro XF solar panel?

We are in Southeast Wisconsin. We have a 27 ft round above ground that we currently heat with 4 - 2x20 solar mats. We've looked into going the gas heater route for a couple of years but just can't swing the cost. The plumbing alone is just way too much right now. We've always used the solar and have had good luck with them as long as there is sun. We run a 2 hp pump, the mats lay flat on the ground about 25 feet away from the pool. We have our plumbing run underground from equiptment to the mats. This has been successful until last year. Summer here was horrible so we didn't get as much use out of the pool. This year we thought we would add 2 more mats to give some additional heat, we prefer to keep the temps around 88 - 90. We started shopping yesterday for the mats and came across the Solarpro XF panel. This is not the round coil heater, instead the unit is square and about 4ft x 3ft with large coils runing vertically. If we did this we would purchase 2 panels and keep them close to the pump/filter and avoid the mats all together. Just wondering if anyone has experience with these before we make the purchase.
Thank you in advance for your time and thoughts.

Welcome to TFP!

The amount of heat you can get from a solar system depends on the total size of the panels. Your old panels were 160 sqft. Something that is around 24 sqft isn't going to provide even remotely as much heat as what you used to have.

That's exactly what I was thinking however the Solarpro coils are about 3 inches wide and perhaps 1.5" deep so there is increased volume going through them. As a result wouldn't the flow rate increase and bring that warmer water into the pool at a much quicker rate? Would you suggest increasing the number of mats then?
