Leaving out of town

Hello,

My friend has a pool and will be out of town for three weeks in May. She stays away from here and hence we will not be able to drive that far every week. Can you please let me know if you have any suggestions to keep the algea out for three weeks. May be balance PH, Double shock the pool before she leaves? Will covering the pool help the algea out? Any thoughts please...

Without automation, the best idea I can come up with is to cover it after bringing the pool up to SLAM level.

Unattended for 3 weeks, likely doomed from the start. SLAM level and cover it is the best you can do. If you were able to head over every week and raise back to SLAM level, you might be safe.

The cover keeps the chlorine in, not really the algae out. It does reduce the sunlight which helps inhibit algae growth.

Set it to run at night with the solar on, You have a fighting chance if you can keep the water temp as low as you can get it.

Thank you for your replies. She does have automated pump. So we will SLAM, cover it and fill the inline chlorinator with tablets and set the pump to run full night. Hope that works
