Black Algae

I have drained my pool due to a very high CYA level. I also had a problem with black algae. Is there any way to kill the algae while ive got the pool drained? Should I let it sit empty for a couple days? Scrub with bleach?

We never recommend to FULLY drain an in ground pool in the first place unless it's being refinished/repainted.

Black algae is very unusual in a vinyl liner pool. Are you sure you are dealing with black alage?

Scrubbing the pool with a solution of dilute bleach can help kill algae, but it is generally more work than dealing with the algae when the pool is full.
