Based on Jason's Pool Calculator, to lower your pH from 7.8 to 7.4 would take appx 25 ounces of 31.45% muriatic acid.

When making PH changes it is best to try a smaller amount of chemical than the Pool Calculator recommends. PH calculations are always estimates, every pool is a little different, and none of the measurements are all that precise. To allow for that, use about 2/3rds of the recommended amount, wait an hour or two with the pump running, test again, and adjust from there.
