The manual states the min length of the straight pipe between suction inlet and the next fitting elbow be 10"....the current configuration has 5"....anyone have a recommendation of what combination of 45's and 90's that could bring me back to the lead pipe by being as direct as possible to reduce friction loss...Thanks in advance!!

There are tons of installs that work fine with less than the recommended straight run in front of the pump. I wouldn't worry about it too much unless it creates a problem after install.
