I am wondering what is the best product to get rid of scale and/or prevent it in a hot tub. I use Leisure time Defender weekly, but seems like we still have some scale build up going on in the hot tub.

The best defense against scale is knowing what you are doing, primarily maintaining appropriate levels. That is far less expensive, and much more effective.
Well, I thought I was doing a good job keeping the water balanced and testing and all of that. Guess not! I will have to spend this slow workday refreshing and seeing if I have gotten lazy and forgotten something.
Hey there, bassett hound. Check your pH, CH and TA......pH being the biggest culprit.
If you problem persists, a dilute solution of muriatic acid (start with 3 (water) to 1) should clean off the existing scale.
As JasonLion indicates, proper chemistry balance is the key to keep it from ever starting.

In a tub TA levels control the PH. When TA is much above 40, the jets will drive the PH up rapidly. If your fill water has TA above 40 you need to lower TA each time you refill the tub. (40 is approximate, 30 to 60 depending on details, though often around 40).
