Multi valve

I am going to check a friends pool pump romm as his pool guy said that the multi valve needs replacing. It is 7 yeas old. Is their anything special I should be looking for.

I may well, but I'm curious why he didn't replace it if so? Maybe it just needs the spider gasket replaced. If you go take a look see what condition it is in and find out why he says the valve is bad.
