I won't have to drain or do any sort of formal "CLOSING" of our in ground pool - in fact I just plan to leave off the cover, exposing the water. But curious for those of you in the Bay Area "zone" for winter. What level Chlorine do you aim for during winter when the pool water is in the 50's ? I do note that since the water is no longer (summer) warm, the CL levels stick for a lot longer than when it's mid to upper 80's (water temp).

Thanks

Similar but slightly warmer climate down here. I keep mine where it should be based on CYA level. It's a lot easier to never get algae than to get rid of it. As you've noticed, you don't use a lot of bleach in the winter.

As Richard said, just maintain the chemicals the same way you have all summer ... you will just likely need MUCH less chlorine to do so.
