Is it ok to drain the pool by putting a water pump in the skimmer after a heavy rain to lower the water level in the closed pool? I don't see why this would be any different than uncovering a corner and draining. We have the skimmer Gizmo and when they closed the pool they took the water level down to the bottom of the skimmer. But it has only been a little over a month and the pool needs to be drained beyond just pumping water off the cover.

I would think that as long as the top of the water is not frozen, that would work for getting the water level back down to the bottom of the skimmer opening, but obviously this will not let you get the water below the skimmer.
