Light housing is set in gunite - leaks

Hello,
I have a 35 thousand gallon 25 year old gunite pool with two lights. Both light housing (cans) are cemented in behind the gunite. Between the stainless light housing and the gunite is a rubber gasket that has rotted away and I've got a pretty bad leak through the deteriorated rubber gasket.

My common sens tells me that I'm going to have to use an air chisel to remove the light fixture to either repair the gasket or to replace the entire housing with a different design that is more easily replaceable.

Also, I'm thinking that I will seal the leak with AB epoxy and chisel it out next year if that's my only option. I'm not sure how well the pool epoxy will adhere to the metal light can.

Do any of you more experienced folks have any suggestions or ideas on how to fix this? I can get a picture if you like.

Pictures always help Randy.

Pool epoxy will work, it is a temporary repair tho.

I have had good success with Butyl Tape but the water needs to be fairly warm for it to adhere.

Anderson Flexible Sealant works good but must be applied in large quantities under water, you must allow the leak to "suck" it in.

If you can drain the pool below the affected area 3M 5200 maybe a better bet. It takes a few days to fully cure (when good and dry).

I hope the picture shows up. I need to close the pool SOON so I have some tubes of silicone to try. If if works

I got out of the "Dry suit" business, what they mean is almost dry or moist suit...

I dive AquaLung Sola Fx suits exclusively now.

Mostly the water I dive is cold and as I've aged I'm liking the cold less and less. My latest suit is a DUI TLS350 and I like it quite a bit. As long as I keep it maintained it's a pretty good suit. I use it pretty hard as a divemaster, but no suit is perfect. One day when I move someplace where warm salt water is close by I won't need one.

Thanks again for helping with your ideas. I'm going to use the 3M sealer on the thing.

I have a DUI and a el cheapo I cant recall the name of, they just sit there now, but "winter" here is not what it is other places for sure.

Oh, keep a can of WD40 with you when applying 5200, spray it on your fingers before you smooth it out or it will take a week or 2 to "wear off" your hands, the stuff is TENACIOUS!! Lol.

Quick update:
Thank your for your advice. The 3M 5200 did the trick. I cleaned as much of the old gasket out of the crack, filled it with 5200 and smoothed it with my finger.
After waiting a little more than 2 days I filled the pool past the light and it's holding.
