High water loss

I am losing about 1/2 inch of water per day in my pool and I am wondering if this is normal. I have an in ground 25,000 gallon plaster SWG pool with a connected hot tub. I am in Los Angeles CA area. I run the pool equipment 8-10 hours per day.

A 1/2 inch a day could very well be a leak. Here is some information on how to determine if it is, in fact, a leak, and what to do about it.

I live near you and I'm losing about 3/8" to 1/2" a day lately, most likely evaporation, but follow 257's link to remove any doubt.

I really appreciate your responses. I'm going to try to investigate using the guidelines suggested by 257. hopefully it's just evaporation!
