Pole holes

I'd take a hose clamp, screw it on and drill through that. A hose clamp as in a metal strip used to join water hose or secure flexible tubing to a rigid tube/pipe. It has a screw that engages slots in the metal strip around the pipe. For more security of the holes use some extra liner between the clamp and pole.

A few ideas.

1) Cut off the end and drill new holes.
2) Drill new holes at 90 degrees to the existing holes.
3) Use a stainless bolt and nut to hold the brush, or net, on.

Note: The clips might also be worn and might need to be replaced.
