Test results are
FC 1.5
TA 80-90
CYA 40
pH 7.8

I've read slam article in pool school & I have 1000 oz of 8.75% bleach on hand.
How important is it to bring pH down to 7.5 before I slam?

It looks like it to me.

Your FC level is too low for your CYA level thus the algae. Your FC level should be 4-7 ppm for your CYA level and not below 4.

SLAM it. Try to get your PH down to 7.2 before you SLAM.

Think I have algae. pH is a little high - 7.8 - so I just added some acid. Pump is on high. How long do I have to wait to test pH again? Only have about 30 mins before bed, at which time pump goes to Low. Am I better to wait til morning to SLAM ?

30 -60 min should be good.

Keep everything under the first thread you started. It's easier for everybody to follow. You can wait to start SLAM tomorrow.
