every time i open my de and clean , I close it up charge it . Then run it the next morning the filter will have drained back , so now when all the water rushes back in . Im thinking it is washing the de off the grids?. Im not sure why i cant get a good seal .tank gasket or pump basket gasket . I feel like I have to open again and clean again . It usually has to sit overnight to siphon back. Is repriming the filter washing the de off the grids?

Well, there must be a leak letting air in somewhere ... but it is not necessarily where you are splitting the filter apart.
When it drains, some of the DE may fall off the grids, but when the pump comes back on, it should re-coat them.
