Closing pool - Removing Pump

I've had a small leak in my pump all Summer and I want to have it looked at and (hopefully) rebuilt over the Winter.

- Are there any issues with me removing the pump completely after I have Winterized the pool?
- I have a bottom main drain which will just be air locked during the winter. Will removing the pump affect that at all and possibly let air in - or would I be safe because I assume the shut off valve is before the pump??

Just want to make sure I can Winterize 100% then pull the pump off...

If the shutoff valve is on the pump suction (which it should be) then it won't affect anything to remove the pump. A lot of people remove both the pump and filter and bring them inside during the winter.
