My 15 year old Crystal Clear II D.E. filter DELE42058. Stainless tank
Has a pinhole on the top !!!! What the heck ...
So i guess i will be needing a new 72 sq ft D.E. Filter ..
Any recomendations ??? Is hayward still good , there running 1200.00 bucks.
I dont know how stainless that thick wore through ???
I put some epoxy on it maybe it will hold for a while ...
Do the new plastic ones line up with the unions .

Do you know a welder? If so, ask him if he can TIG. (pronounced tig). If not, ask what he might do for it. Epoxy is a roll of the dice, so you may get lucky. It may be a 400 or 500 series SS with high Fe content. It could be Chloride induced corrosion. Hard to say.

Aren't the Leslies crystal clear filters just re-branded Haywards?

I had a similar problem when the belt on my Hayward Micro Clear SS 48sq. ft. broke (discontinued part) -- Right in the middle of an algae battle.

I replaced it with a 48sq. ft. Hayward Pro Grid. It lined up perfectly with the my existing multiport valve, so installation took all of five minutes.

The drain outlet however, did not line up with my existing plumbing -- the drain outlet is lower on the new fiberglass filter bodies. So I just used the included plug and will deal with plumbing the drain side later.

BTW... I won algae battle and am on the right track now. :)
