Intermatic T40004RT3 Timing Control Center

Hi!

I have an Intermatic T40004RT3 Timing Control Center. The unit has a Transformer built in for the low voltage lights, but the wiring from the breakers comes into the transformer and then goes out to an external Safety Volt ST-100 unit and then on to the lights.

Is this a normal setup?
Why 2 Transformers? Maybe redundancy?

I'm installing an Aqua Plus from Hayward and need to know if the Transformer inside the Intermatic is required.

Please help!

The answer:

The Transformer inside the Intermatic Unit is a 300w Transformer for the Main Pool Light and the Smaller Safety Volt Transformer is for the Spa Light (100w)
