Hayward SP1082k4 Weir (Broken Tab)

On my 2nd season with my pool Had some family over yesterday. Two 10 year olds where doing canon balls in the deep end. Shortly thereafter I saw the skimmer weir door floating on the water, tab missing and at the bottom of the pool. Are these that sensitive that 75lb kids jumping in the water can slap a weir hard enough to break?

So is this repairable or needs replaced? OEM or third party? Amazon has this:

I have the same problem. The tabs on the OEM look a little flimsy. There are some third party ones that once they are put into place a pin is pulled to release a spring loaded hinge pin. I ordered the OEM, now im having second thoughts.

We had the same problem this weekend when there were about 20 teenagers over. Did your replacement work OK or would you recommend something different?
