Salt Water Spa with Overflow onto Travertine

A neighbor of mine recently installed a salt water pool and connecting spa. The entire pool deck and coping is travertine. It really looks gorgeous, and I want to do the same, but I'm wondering how it will hold up. Any input would be appreciated!

The answer depends on the hardness/softness of the Travertine, specifically how it holds water. Does water absorb quickly into it or does it bead up and not absorb. Stone degradation from salt splash-out is more of a problem in areas that don't get frequent summer rains and that are hot since it is the splash-out and evaporation cycle that causes the damage to soft stone via salt recrystallization pressure. Of course, one can seal the stone to prevent this from occurring.
