Need to know what this is so we can get a new cover for it.

Sisters pool with a non-standard return system that has multiple returns on the bottom of the pool along with two on the front near the steps in the shallow end. All the returns on the bottom have individual runs that terminate at this diffuser? beside the pump. These are returns, not drains and are always on with no valves to change flow between the two returns on the side and six on the bottom. I've put two pics up on photobucket and here are the links to them:

The top on this creature has cracked (she has it coated in gorilla glue so she can run the pool as evidenced in second picture). Can't find a new top at the local pool emporiums and no one even has a clue what it is / who made it for us to try to find one online.

Help?

Thanks for the help. Her lid doesn't look quite like the one in the picture and none of the "guts" are inside the unit. I assumed it was there to help return the water more evenly from the heater... Is there any reason I can't just cap it off and abandon it? I'm a little worried that the two remaining "eyeball" returns won't provide enough flow.

It originally had floor cleaning heads installed in the returns and that cannister had a set of gears that switched the flow from zone to zone.

It's a little bit of a pain to bypass the system but it can be done. You'd probably be better off just buying the cap for the distributor and running it without the gearset.

The label is from the Master Pools Guild. I think that the part is made by Pentair (Sta-Rite). It's faded, but you can read the word "Master" in the upper left quadrant and "Pools" in the lower right quadrant of the logo in your second picture.

Make sure to get a new O-ring (or two).
