It is recommended to port the output of the Liquidator into the pump drain plug by replacing it with a barb fitting. Anyone have any advice about the details of this operation? Looks like I will lose all of the water in my filter and heater with this operation.

You will lose a good bit of water in the pump, filter and heater when you open the system, but no more than you lose when you clean the filter or the pump basket. It will fill right back up when the pump primes.
