I need a 110v outlet for my new solar cover reel. The handiest place is near my pump/filter which is 220v.
Can anyone tell me how I can get 110v from the nearby 220 box or if it's safe to do so?

You really should not just tap off the pump 220V box/outlet. In fact it may not have the required neutral.

If the wire is large enough, you could add a subpanel (and add a neutral wire) at the equipment and feed the pump off a 230V breaker and an outlet of the a 115V breaker. In fact, by code there should already be a 115V convienence outlet near the pool equipment.
