Pool Draining - What should I look for?

My pool liner is in need of replacing. I want to drain the pool, but the ground is really wet and saturated around the pool. Can I just simply drain the pool and ignore how much water is in the ground around the pool?

Also, what type of pump should I use to drain this thing?

Do you have a well point near the pool?

Since you're replacing the liner it won't be as bad to drain it as it would if you were going to try and save it, but you could have some issues with fixing the floor for the new liner.

Are you DIYing it or have you hired someone to do it?

I am planning on paying someone to do this. I have no idea what I am doing.

They should have a plan for handling the water in the pool. There may be a well point near the pool from the install if the water table is normally that high.

The water table shouldn't be the issue. The issue is how long this pool has been leaking and how much rain we have gotten.

If the water table isn't an issue then once it's drained and the liner removed it'll dry out pretty quickly. If it stops raining every day!

What would you use to drain the pool? I have 2 levels in my yard. The pool is on the higher side. I will pump from the higher to the lower. Just don't know what to use. I assume a rental pump would work.

Usually I think it works out cheaper to buy a submersible pump than rent. You can get one from Harbor Freight. I wouldn't have any idea what size to recommend, though.

What would you use to drain the pool?

If you have a main drain and a multiport, you can drain using your pump. Close the skimmers, open the main drain and set the multiport to waste.
