Interesting tip. How small are we talking here, like that fine aquarium gravel that's about like grape nuts and is usually artificially colored, or more like natural/ornamental pea gravel?
I'll have to check this out, still haven't done anything with the filter. May just scrap it till next season.
I recall everything from what you describe on up to say, pinto bean size - also in natural stone - I would ask if it was coated with anything, obviously the colored kind is.
