new plaster start up

we are having are pool remodeled starting next week and do the diamond brite plaster the following week.

can you guys tell if is there anything special about refilling the pool?
pool company is basically insisting we use their start up service to get the water balanced...I just want to make sure they don't try and add anything I don't need or want.

I have the TFP kit so I am armed with that and the knowledge that I've learned here.

The most important thing is to not invalidate the warranty. That is almost always more important than what they put in the pool.

The key to new plaster is to be aware that it will quickly raise the PH for about three weeks, and more slowly for up to a year. You need to keep an eye on the PH and make sure it never gets too high. TA and CH levels will also rise for about three weeks, so don't manually adjust them too early.
